The Samsung Galaxy S9 is one expensive phone around right now, and you surely want to protect it with a heavy duty protection case right? So, today I’m going to compare two of the best, most well known tough cases from Otterbox Defender and Pelican Voyager. So, let’s now read my comparison review below, and I’ll help you decide which one to choose between these two cases.
Otterbox Defender

The Otterbox Defender might be the first brand that comes up to your mind for rugged protection for your phone, and this is the company that came up on my mind too. Otterbox company has a well-known reputation for keeping your phone protected and looking new from the day the case is put on until you take it off. The features include two-layer protection, ports for drop and dust protection, you get a bonus holster for media viewing or belt clip.

Pelican Voyager
One of the best thing I like about Pelican is the lifetime guarantee which means if you break it, Pelican will replace it forever. The case also comes with a scratch resistant coated screen protector, and a holster. I did test the holster, it’s harder to turn than the Defender in the beginning but will be softer in time and doesn’t turn 360 ° like the Defender.

Conclusions
I know some of you might be thinking why would you put such an ugly case on your phone, well, sometimes we need heavy-duty protection in case you’re going out doing harsh work or other things that needed extra protection.
Both of the cases have holsters, but the Pelican feels harder to turn to media viewing than the Defender, but it will be softer in time. You can turn the holster 360° for the Defender but you can’t turn it all around with the Pelican. The Pelican comes with a screen protector and the Defender doesn’t. The Defender has the Port covers that blocks dirt, dust, and lint from getting into jacks and ports while the Pelican Voyager has no port covers at all.
The premium materials that they made from Otterbox is from a higher level. So, if you’re looking for a strong case you can go for the Defender. Personally, I like the Pelican Voyager because it’s and comes with a screen protector. But, the choice is yours to decide whether you choose the strong case from Otterbox Defender or the slim case with a screen protector from Pelican Voyager to be your protective case for your Samsung Galaxy S9.
