A lot of people have asked us what’s the best wireless earbuds that are comfortable to the ear and light to wear. In the past years I’ve been reviewing tech gear, and BlueAnt has always had the best tech gear to use. Moreover, it’s an Australian designed and owned so you might want to support it. Well, this time I will review the Blueant Pump Air True Wireless Earbuds.

If you’re not familiar with Blueant, it’s a sports audio and lifestyle brand founded in Australia in 2003 who has produced a wide range of audio products including headphones, earphones and now these new generations of wireless earbuds.

So, are they any good? Let’s check it out!

BlueAnt Pump Air True Wireless

What you get in the box My first impression for this wireless earbuds are well made, and light to wear earbuds. It weighs only 4g each which is pretty light to use for you to do any sport with this stylish earbuds. You will get all these things in the box:

  • The wireless sports earbuds with 4.2 Bluetooth
  • A short USB-A to micro-USB charge cable and wireless charging case
  • A set of 2 x 7 soft silicone as well as two different profiles for more or less sound isolation

Design and features

At first glance, these earbuds look like sports earbuds. The earbuds have sweatproof IP54 rating so you can sweat as much as you like and the earbuds will keep on playing music. The downside is that they don’t come with any companion fitness or audio app and the charger case feels like a knock-off from the moment you pick it up. Thankfully, the PumpAir True Wireless Sportsbuds are more comfortable to the ear than they looked when I wore it.

The pairing process is simple and easy. However, I found out that there is a voice notification when the earbuds are in pairing mode and whether or not they are connected to, and it sounds very small.

How’s the bass sound?

BlueAnt founder Taisen Maddern said, “We’ve maximised the quality of the new Pump Airs, so they’re all play and no work. You just put them in, switch on your music, and you have hours of uninterrupted listening. We’ve focused on the bass and audio quality with the Pump Airs, so the sound is richer and louder than anything else you’ll find on the market.”

I found out that the sound is surprisingly nice and bright, with more than enough bass, though not necessarily booming. It’s good for vocal tracks a.k.a. Beach Boys but not so good for heavy metal. It’s also great for phone calls, Google Assistant and Siri.

There is also more volumeto make the sound louder than I expected which is pretty cool. Generally, if you’re listening to a lot of modern music as you go running or walking, the BlueAnt Pump Air is going to handle things relatively well. Just don’t take it for a swim because it’s only sweat proof not waterproof.

Amazing Battery Life

What you are paying for is really worth it in terms of battery life. The BlueAnt PumpAir True Wireless Sportsbuds are fast-charge friendly , twenty minutes of charging for 1 hour of playtime and a full (3 hour) charge in less than 1 hour of charging. Moreover, the fully-loaded case holds four more recharges which brings their total use time to 15 hours , with three hours of battery life in the earphones, and an extra twelve hours of life in the battery case - making second only to Apple’s Airpods.

When you charge it, you can see a small LEDs to tell you how much charge is left in the case. That said, the battery is inside the one place you’ll be storing the earphones, and even if you don’t listen to the full three hours, the earphones should be kept topped up in battery life.

Pros Cons
  • Very loud
  • Great price
  • Decent sound
  • Great battery life
  • Lightweight design
  • Case design is bulky
  • The battery case is quite large
  • Tricky latch on a battery case
  • No other associated fitness app
  • Earphones have to be switched on individually
  • Pump air earphones won’t switch off when you put them in their charge case
