Otterbox Pursuit Case vs Otterbox Commuter Case For iPhone XS

The Pursuit and Commuter case from Otterbox have something in common. Both have port covers, two-piece installation, and have the Otterbox Certified Drop Protection. That is why we decided to help you out with choosing the best from these two cases. Let’s find out which of these cases are worth to have!

OTTERBOX PURSUIT CASE FOR IPHONE XS

Have a look at the second toughest case from Otterbox, the Otterbox Pursuit Case. The middle of the Otterbox Pursuit is quite thin which reduces the feeling of “bulk” in the case. The case will wear well over time, but drops will be noticeable on the case in time.

The Otterbox Pursuit is the best Otterbox case for dust and debris protection. The lightning port has a tight fitting plug and the camera cutouts are surrounded by foam which keeps dust and debris from collecting inside the case. The edges of the case are high enough to keep the screen off a flat surface, and Otterbox Pursuit also comes with a lanyard loop!

PROS: CONS:
  • Thin, modern design
  • Internal impact liner absorbs shocks
  • Sealed around every opening for complete protection
  • Not waterproof
  • Quite expensive
  • No screen protector

OTTERBOX COMMUTER SLIM CASE FOR IPHONE XS

For those of you who want a little bit extra protection compared to the Otterbox Symmetry case, you may want to consider the Otterbox Commuter series case. The Commuter case is similar to the symmetry except it’s a little bit different design and also slightly thicker with two-piece style case with an inner TPU liner and an outer Polycarbonate shell.

The interior part of the case has the shock absorbing patterns that protect the back of the phone as well as the air pockets right through the corners that help to disperse impacts from accidental drops.

PROS: CONS:
  • Shock absorbing patterns
  • Headphone and charger port sealed
  • Not waterproof
  • The two pieces of materials of plastic and TPU never line up perfectly

Overall

Otterbox has done a great job ensuring dust and debris doesn’t touch your iPhone. Both have two-piece style case, slim, and port covers for the headphone and charger ports. The buttons on both cases work well, but Otterbox Commuter buttons are more easy to press.

I like the Otterbox Pursuit as it has more protection, a bit similar with the Defender and comes with a lanyard loop. However, you’re going to be paying for that convenience because it costs more than the Otterbox Commuter. In conclusion, Otterbox Pursuit case is the thinnest, toughest, most protective iPhone Xs case from Otterbox but if you want a similar design with the Ottebox Pursuit but cheaper, then you can get the Otterbox Commuter.
