This is my first 'Lifeproof' case and also the most expensive case I have ever purchased. So far I am happy with the protection it provides. After several drops into various surfaces (concrete, exposed aggregate, blue metal and even a drop from approximately 1.8m into a 32mm thick steel plate) the case is damage free apart from a small (2mm) indent in the plastic centre section.
My biggest gripe would have to be the way this case blocks sound from the speakers. After installing the phone into this case there is a severe drop in sound quality and volume even with all volume levels on the phone set to maximum. This is problematic as notifications are often not heard unless you are in an extremely quiet location. This is not an issue during phone calls though. As a tradesman it is a rarity to be in a quiet environment and as such makes this the case's biggest downfall.
Another issue is the fact you require and adaptor for the 3.5mm aux socket, something I think most people wouldn't carry with them at all times. Without it, using wired headphones or connecting to an external audio device with and aux cable is not possible.
One small thing I would like to see is the plastic rear section changed to rubber as the plastic feels cheap and also contributes the the poor sound quality.
If you are looking for a case that will provide great all-round protection and don't mind the having a reduction in sound or missing notifications then you may find this case is suitable for you,…
